Removing rust from fuel tanks is a very easy process with Rusted Solutions Soak. The Soak will not damage good metal, good paint and is odourless. PRECAUTIONS
If the tank has seams, place it into a tub while removing the rust. With heavily rusted tanks it is possible. That the rust has penetrated through even though, it may look sealed initially.
REMOVE THE TANK/PREPARATION
Remove any sender units, pickups and stopcocks etc and bung the holes. Give the tank a good flush with degreaser and a pressure washer. For heavy rust where possible place. Some large screws in the tank with the degreaser, shake it to assist with dislodging. Some of the rust and old oil etc. Make sure to count the screws before popping them in . Remove the degreaser and save it, flush the tank with water then onto the next step.

Once the tank is rust free, dry it. Depending on the type of tank you can use a heat gun but be careful if there is paint present. You can also dry the tank using a 50/50 mix of hot water and metho. That will evaporate the moisture from the tank once its tipped out.
If the tank doesn’t leak then you can fill it with fuel. If it is going to sit for a while pop in some oil and rotate the tank to coat the surface. Flush the oil out with a bit of fuel later.
